Here we have a beautiful Indian Veena. This kind of guitar is a hybrid between a Sitar and a Lap Steel. It is played like a regular Weissenborn or any kind of Lap Steel guitar, but due to the drone strings it has a sound similar to the Indian Sitar.
There are 8 strings on the tuning head, and at the side (on a plank fixed to the side of the neck) are 13 extra tuning pegs. These are for the resonance strings.
Usually only 3 main strings are played with a Steel Bar. The rest are drone strings, which resonate beautifully to the played strings.
This instrument is not yet very popular. It is still made on special order. Here you have the opportunity to get yourself a beautiful model without any waiting time.
* Body & Neck: Rosewood
* Tuning pegs for the resonance strings: Rosewood
* Square Neck
Please note - the Veena is no machine-made product. It is a hand made instrument from India which is beautiful indeed, but shows some imperfections like spots on the finish. The instruments are perfect to play anyway.
